Wiele czynników, takich jak płeć, dieta, aktywność fizyczna i dostęp do światła słonecznego może wpłynąć na zdrowie kości, a szczególnie na jej gęstość mineralną.

Zmienność wyników badań i metaanaliz utrudnia wyciągniecie wniosków dotyczących wpływu kofeiny na zdrowie kości, jednakże część dowodów wskazuje, że może istnieć związek pomiędzy spożyciem kawy a ryzykiem złamania kości biodrowej u starszych kobiet.

Podsumowując, obecne dane nie dostarczają wystarczającej ilości danych do wyciągnięcia rzetelnych wniosków, zatem istnieje konieczność prowadzenia dalszych badań w tym zakresie.
