Podsumowanie

Regularne i umiarkowane spożywanie kawy/kofeiny (odpowiednik 3-5 standardowej wielkości filiżanek kawy zawierającej kofeinę) przez okres całego życia zdaje się mieć korzystny wpływ na procesy poznawcze. Może ono prowadzić do zachowania potencjału poznawczego, który zanika wraz z wiekiem, mieć działanie ochronne przeciwko rozwojowi chorób neurodegeneracyjnych takich jak choroba Alzheimera czy Parkinsona, a także ograniczać zarówno ryzyko, jak i szkodliwe skutki wystąpienia udaru mózgu. Konieczne jest jednak prowadzenie dalszych badań w celu wyciągnięcia wiarygodnych wniosków.
